The market system no longer works solely with simple fixed goods prices. Every city can hold its own stocks, produce and consume goods and therefore develop different market conditions. Goods such as fish, grain, timber, coal, salt, textiles, tools, steel, machinery and luxury goods can have a different economic significance in each port.
Players purchase goods in the active port, store them in their own counting house, later load them onto a ship and transport them to another city along a route. At the destination, the goods can be sold, stored in the destination counting house or kept aboard the ship. This creates the first genuine trading cycle and forms the foundation for later economic dynamics.
It is especially important to note that the system is not yet finally balanced, but its technical and gameplay foundation is in place. After a long period of experimentation, a state has been reached that is stable enough for continued development.
