Speed Control, Search Pattern and Engine
Search pattern and speed are separate settings. Only a manual engine command starts or resumes an enabled voyage leg or search.
At a Glance
- Search-pattern detents are circle, zigzag, longitudinal and grid search.
- Speed settings range from slow speed to full speed.
- Engine off pauses an eligible operation; an empty tank forces the pause.
Select a search pattern
The course pointer engages only the available search patterns. The setting is stored and contributes to discovery chance at the final search point. It does not replace the next geographical waypoint set on the chart.
Select speed
Slow, half, one-third, two-thirds and full speed are stored separately from the pattern. During a search, the correct combination of pattern, speed and sonar may matter. The mission overview shows the currently effective state.
Engine on and off
- Check that a voyage leg or search is enabled.
- Set pattern and speed.
- Check available fuel.
- Switch the engine on manually.
- To pause, switch it off and acknowledge the offered dialog where required.
- Nothing restarts automatically after fuel exhaustion or refuelling; switch the engine on again.
