Customs offices represent controlled passages along waterways. They are clickable map objects, but they are not cities, markets or destination ports.

Recognise and open a customs office

  1. Zoom in until the round gold customs symbol is visible.
  2. Click the symbol or its Customs Office label.
  3. Read status, description and displayed fee on the right.
  4. Click another object or empty map space to change the selection.

Difference from a port

A port is a voyage destination and may contain a market, office or shipyard. A customs office lies on the waterway, has no market or warehouse and cannot become the active port.

Why the symbol sits on the water

Its position makes the controlled passage unambiguous. The label appears only at an appropriate zoom level so that city and customs labels remain readable.
